The Rationale for this Position

Since its founding in 2004, Agilyx is committed to finding ways of turning waste plastics into renewable and valuable resources.  Agilyx has leveraged the success of the generation 7 plant design in Oregon to develop business development opportunities and contractual agreements to design and deploy full-scale conversion facilities utilizing Agilyx’s pyrolysis technology.  As such, Agilyx is needing to increase capacity and capability in building its supply chain related strategy and capabilities.

 

Role Overview

This person is fundamentally responsible for ensuring that Agilyx has a consistent supply of high value goods and services.  This position has a spectrum of responsibilities ranging from straight tactical buying to supplier development and qualifications to working with management to develop supply chain strategy, systems and processes.  This position will work closely with Agilyx engineering, manufacturing, project management and accounting functional areas to ensure that Agilyx’s supply chain and procurement activities are supportive of positive client project outcomes.  This position will coordinate activities of internal cross-functional teams with that of external resources on project related to managing RFQ/P’s. This role requires a hands-on, knowledgeable, highly responsive team player who is a self-starter, resourceful, brings creativity and strong interpersonal skills to the organization.

 

Core Accountabilities

  1. Works in concert with the organization to locate suppliers of goods and services by both leveraging specifications and using one’s own skills and experiences to find solutions to supply chain problems.
  2. Works with management to develop strategy, processes and systems which enable Agilyx to keep pace with the growing needs procurement needs in both volume and complexity.
  3. Negotiate competitive costs and terms while maintaining effective relationships with suppliers
  4. Operates as a buyer-planner to order goods and services and see through to final delivery and acceptance
  5. Manages the supply chain to ensure it keeps pace with our needs for safety, innovation, delivery, cost and quality.

 

Position Responsibilities

  • 5-10 years’ of experience in both strategic and tactical buying-planning capacities with companies that design and manufacture equipment or components. Demonstrable track record of developing supply chain networks that routinely deliver per expectations and are supportive of company growth.
  • Position will be engaging in and delivering value within a highly technical business. As such, this position will require a candidate with a good technical aptitude, intuition and experience so as to be able to translate their observations and assignments into relevant procurement related solutions.
  • Strong and effective negotiating skills that substantively contribute to building supplier accountability while maintaining a respectful business relationship.

  • Experience communicating and collaborating efficiently and effectively with a disperse team located throughout the globe
  • Ability to communicate in writing and verbally at all levels in the organization
  • Fluency in ERP system functionality and upkeep, preferably with NetSuite.
  • Ability to build consensus and relationships among managers, partners, and employees.
  • Excellent judgment regarding health, safety, environmental guidelines, rules and regulations as they pertain to equipment design and chemical plant operation.

 

Education/Training

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study (technical degree, accounting, business) or equivalent experience

Position Mechanics

Reports to: Vice President of Manufacturing and Technology Integration

Type: Salaried; full time

Work Hours: Generally 8:00-5:00. Agilyx has offices and projects globally, so there will be occasional evening and weekend work.

Staff: None

Location: Portsmouth, NH and remote (from home)

Work environment: professional office and manufacturing

Travel: 10-20% and (travel is currently being curtailed as a result of COVID-19)

Physical Demands is substantially that of an office environment.  Occasional lifting and manual work.
