AGILYX TECHNOLOGY IN ACTION

Regenyx: The world’s first chemical recycler of post-use polystyrene

Regenyx, a plastic recycling facility using Agilyx chemical recycling technology to convert Polystyrene waste into styrene monomer
SUCCESS STORY

The project that changed the way we recycle polystyrene

Regenyx, located in Tigard, Oregon (US), was formed in 2019 as a joint venture between Agilyx and Americas Styrenyx (AmSty) to showcase Agilyx’s depolymerization technology and establish a market for recycled polystyrene and styrene monomer over the course of a 5-year project term. The project term successfully ended in 2024 and the decision was made to close the Regenyx facility and focus on larger, more economic projects.

ISCC PLUS certified for chemical recycling

Regenyx also served as an incubator for ISCC PLUS certification for chemical recycling and recycled styrene monomer manufactured at Regenyx was used by AmSty to create new, ISCC PLUS certified polystyrene products under its PolyRenew® label.

Diverted 6 million pounds of post-use polystyrene

The project term successfully ended in 2024 and the decision was made to close the Regenyx facility and focus on larger, more economic projects. Over the course of the venture, Regenyx diverted over 6 million pounds of post-use polystyrene waste from landfills.
